Fantasy Land is Mark van den Heuvel’s most recent photographic series and the next chapter for the pilot — the same helmeted figure first introduced in Where Music Is Born. This time, he has landed somewhere entirely new. The pilot moves through landscapes that feel both ancient and imagined — environments that blur the line between the real and the otherworldly. The Cave, one of the key works from the series, has been acquired by a Swedish municipality — a formal recognition that this world Van den Heuvel has built is one worth preserving.
